YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE

This is my version of YOLO.

Life begins at birth and ends in death,
When death would come no one but God knows
How would the time between your birth and death be spent,
Think carefully about this for You Only Live Once.

People would pass through this way of life,
Some would be remembered, others quickly forgotten
You too can make your life count for something,
Make your days count for You Only Live Once.

We shall pass through this world but once,
Any good that we can do, Any kindness that we can show
Let us do it now, let us not defer, let us not neglect it at all,
For this is world is not your own, for You Only Live Once.

Family and relationships, Friends and foes will pass away,
Things we thought counted would be left by the way side
All that would matter would be the state of our souls,
Fix your relationship with Christ for You Only Live Once.

When this life’s journey comes to an end,
Where will yonder future find you, will it be with Christ
Or will the gates of Heaven be closed against you,
Make that choice now for You Only Live Once.

IN CHRIST

Left adrift in a world so dark and dreary, I wandered and wandered;
searching for an anchor until Christ found me;
In Him is my anchor.

Life’s problems shattered my heart,
friends’ betrayals ravaged my soul and Christ brought his peace to my life.
In Him I found my peace.

Lost in the world, life lost meaning and each day brought its fresh troubles;
But Christ gave me hope for each day.
In Him, all hope is never lost.

Losing sight of what was real, going from pillar to post in search of treasures;
when Christ found me and showed me the way.
In Him, I found my way.

Left and right, I heard a lot of things.
Friends and foes filled my ears with what I thought was true,
until Christ came and showed me his truth.
In Him, is the truth.

Life lost all joy for me; I felt death’s hands entrap me.
It strived to drag me down, for sin’s weight was too heavy
But Christ came and paid the price and life anew was restored.
In Him, all life begins.

In Christ, we have all that we could ever need to face each day.
In Christ, every burden is made light.
In Christ, life is renewed, wounds are healed and hope is restored.
Accept Christ Today!!!

KNOWING GOD

There is a difference between knowing about God and KNOWING GOD. Let’s take the case of Obama; he is the president of America and the numerous other things I can learn from Wikipedia but I do not know Obama as a person because I have not encountered him, there is no personal relationship between the both of us.
That’s the same with most people who call themselves Christians. They grow as Christians have being born into a Christian family, all their lives they have heard of God and all the numerous deeds God has done, they know all there is to know about God , they could probably quote all the scriptures but for them that’s where it ends, there is no personal relationship or connection to Him.
I used to be like that. I went to church, participated actively, read my bible but I always felt something was lacking. I kept on the path of saying sorry for offences committed and going back to them. I professed to love God but I still couldn’t keep His commands. All my life I had heard of God and seen His mighty deeds in the lives of others and even in my own life but there was no connection or if there was one, the strong pull of the of flash kept robbing me of that connection until I told God that knowing about Him wasn’t enough, that I wanted to know Him as He really is.
It is not enough to know about God, anyone can do that. What counts in the long run is knowing God. To know God is to have eternal life. John 17:3 rightly puts it as: “And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ whom you sent. ” Until we experience God as He really is, we are still a long way off the mark. Our main priority in life is to know God as He truly is. We must make an effort daily to know God better. Everyday we must begin the task anew, we must improve in our knowledge of Christ, His words must be the food of our souls.
The greatest evidence that a Christian knows God is LOVE. 1st John 4:8 says: “whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. ” It’s easier to say we Love God, we love our fellow human beings but to actually show that love there lies the difficulty. Love is the foundation on which every other command lies. Until we can truly love and show that love, then the void each of us feels in our hearts would only grow larger. Love is a great good. Love is the greatest of all for it renders light every burden. LOVE SHOULD TRANSCEND FROM OUR LIPS TO OUR HEARTS AND RADIATE FROM OUR HEARTS INTO OUR ACTION. For 1st John 4:9 says: “And God showed us His love by sending His only son into the world, so that we might have life through Him. ” The rest of that passage from verses 10 to 21 continues to show us what truly loving God is all about and tells us that since Christ has loved us, then we should love one another too.
The world is filled with hate, forgiveness, love and tolerance are virtues we only hear in our places of worship. TO LOVE IS TO KNOW GOD AND TO KNOW GOD IS TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. They cannot be split apart. The Christian is called to the way of love. We must be able to tell the next person irrespective of their tribe, language, color, race or religious beliefs that we love them and mean it. Love bids you and I to embrace everyone just as God would do, to know that in each and everyone of us the image of the perfect Father is made manifest. Love is a conscious effort, in love no room exists for passivity.
The cry of every Christian should be that of Philippians 3:10-11: “All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of His ressurection, to share in His sufferings and become like Him in His death, in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to life.”
