Hmmmmm! Emmanuel Onyebuchi Albert Duru, my one time love (do not let him hear I called him that, but he sures knows he has a special place in my heart). Out of all the friends I have, you are the only one I can remember when and where we first met – 22nd December 2009 at Ivory hostel Owerrri. You came into my life and changed it for the better. Remember those times when we used to hang out together and laugh and all the numerous mid-night calls I put you through (I cannot remember all we must have discussed.) You were the subject of my numerous writings (do not worry you will get to read them some day.)

Just in case you did not know, what attracted me to him made me want to know him better was and is still his craziness (but he is much calmer now). You know that bad boy swag, that confidence that looks so effortless, that look in their eyes that says you are the only one for me,  that smile that melts your heart and the charm that sweeps you off your feet. We good girls {I would surely win the award for miss prim and proper} like the bad guys, the unattainable, they usually add the spice that we lack in our sometimes boring life (not that I live a boring life, I am enjoying my life the way it is but it could do with a burst of energy.)

I look back and think about all the things I would always remember and love about you and the first thing that comes to mind is that I would always remember how you made me laugh and how the mere thought of you was enough to bring smiles to my face. You gave me the first exotic taste of love and I will always remember how glad I am that you are my friend. My Dearie as I always call you, you will always have a special place in my heart. The one person I could always call and talk ‘silly’ with.

God was surely watching out for your family and us your friends some twenty-something years ago (don’t worry I won’t reveal your age) when He sent a precious bundle into our lives. I bless the day God sent you into my life and I wonder how you managed to put up with me considering the fact that I was pretty annoying and stubborn. (You know I am a nice, warm, caring person underneath the whole wahala I like giving but life would be dull if I do not disturb and act all annoying, you get my drift abi.)

My Dearie is one ambitious and hard working fellow that I know and I know you will go places. My Dearie likes to play the ‘macho’ man act but under that whole gruff exterior is a vulnerable side that hardly surfaces but suffices to say, he is an emotional one. I am eternally grateful that you came into my life when you did. Our friendship has survived a lot of ups and downs, we have come out stronger, and I believe our friendship will always last forever and like fine wine, it only gets better with time. The one whom I never get tired of talking to, the one who does not allow me get away with everything.

Therefore, as you add one more year to your age, may you age gracefully. I cannot think of anything better than to commend you into our father’s hands.

I ask Him to bless you beyond measure and boundaries.

I ask Him to make His word the stronghold of your life.

I ask Him to give you grace to excel beyond your contemporaries.

I ask Him to favor you and give you His Spirit that you may never stray away from Him.

I ask Him to lavish His love on you and draw you closer to himself.

I ask Him for the best wife for you and children to surround your table.

I ask Him to give you joy and peace beyond all understanding.

May you have all you have ever desired, may God’s plans for you come to pass. May He change your sadness into a joyful dance, take away sorrow from you, and surround you with joy. May you soar far above the eagles’ height, touch lives in your generation, write your name in the hallmark of fame, and be all that God has destined you to be.

Happy birthday my Dearie. Bigger you I pray.

May this new age be the start of something new and better in your life.

Heartfelt wishes from your friends and family.

I love you my Dearie. Plenty hugs and kisses from me to you.

Now close your eyes, blow out the candles, and make a wish. You deserve the very best. Keep my own cake for me oh.

Happy birthday dearest one.

May God bless you Abundantly.
