DO IT RIGHT

Now to our quote of the day:

Believe in the incredible power of the human mind

Of doing something that makes a difference, of working hard;

Of laughing and hoping, of lasting friends;

Of all the things that will cross your path;

The start of something new brings the hope of something great;

Anything is possible. There is only you;

And you will pass this way but once;

Do it right; the 1st time.

And once again, i do not know who wrote this but if you do,lemme know. There is no such word as impossibility. In other words, impossible is not a stopping point, its a starting point to overcome. Do it right the first time for you shall only pass this way but once, so any good that you can do, any kindness that you can show to any human being, do it now, do not defer or neglect it at all for this world is not our own.

THANK GOD FOR CHRIST

I know i said i would not write a long post but i could not stop myself so bear with me and in as much as i would love to tell you to get a glass of chilled wine and relax and read, i wouldn’t say so. But i think you should sit down and think hard about your life.

I really don’t know where to start from. I don’t even know what I want to write about but whatever I write, I hope it turns out to be something worth reading; something that touches someone’s life.

I used to think life was all about going to school; getting good grades and being the best I could be but then I found out that life was all of that and more. I remember when mama used to make us go to church or learn how to say our prayers and ask us to read our bibles; I never knew the importance of all of that until later on when I discovered that without mama’s prayers, corrections, love and admonitions I would be nowhere.

I was just listening to something on the TV the other day and something cut my attention. The priest said: “who is Jesus to you?” and went ahead to give different answers to what most people thought Jesus was to them. I am not going to give the answers he gave because we all know who Jesus is to us, but the answer that stood out to me was that Jesus is our best friend. He went ahead to say this: “you have a best friend whom you never communicate with, who is only in your thoughts when you need something”. It struck a chord in my heart and I knew I was part of those who called Jesus my best friend but never treated him like one. I said my prayers out of sense of duty and was always in a hurry to finish up but I could spend hours reading the latest best-selling paperback novel. It was shameful to see all my faults brought out in such hideous light. The priest said prayer was an act of communicating, the kind that occurs between a father and his child, and one that is supposed to draw the child closer to his father.

We often rush our prayers but never forget to ask God for the numerous things we want and most times forget to thank Him for the ones he has provided for us already. God has promised to provide for our daily needs not wants. What is it that we want that God cannot do for us? With Him the word impossibility ceases to exist. He is the Way we must follow; the Truth we must believe and the Life that gives us life. With just a word we are set free from whatever ails us. He says that healing is the children’s bread. When he enters into your life, every situation changes for the better. The God that says what He will do. He says he will turn every curse to a blessing. He is the same yesterday; today and forever. He says: “I know you all by name.” When you have such a father like that, why then do you have a reason to worry? All he demands from us in return for everything he has done is a worthy sacrifice of praise. Is that too much to ask from his creatures?

He implores us to draw closer to him in prayer. He stretches out his hands and invites us to share in his eternal banquet. He invites us to willingly drop our burdens at his feet and pick up His yoke. He says His grace is abundant and His mercies ever new. He asks us if anything is impossible for Him to do. He begs us to drop all our cares and worries at the foot of the cross. And it’s wonderful to have a father who is willing to do all this and more if we could just humble ourselves and talk to him; not mere talking but real communication, the kind where we talk to God and listen to him as he speaks to us. Through Christ, in Christ and with Christ we can do all things. He is our All in all things. He alone is enough.

I also just watched the video of a song titled “Mercy said no”. It was heart breaking and tears freely flowed through my eyes. He bore all the pain of the cross for my sake and yours. The unblemished one went the way of the cross for me and you. He was flogged for our sins. The wording of a song comes back to me now and I’m sure it’s somewhere in the bible and I will share it now with you all: “Surely he has borne our grief and carried our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon him and by stripes we are healed. What can I render to the Lord for his mercies, what I can render to the Lord for his goodness? Love is the ultimate, love is the greatest, love made Jesus to die on the cross.”

He came down to earth out of love for sinful mankind and in Philippians2 vs. 8, it says He humbled himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross. On the cross Jesus said:”it is finished”. Every of our pains and sicknesses is finished. He paid the eternal price for our sins. In the time of Jesus; to die on a cross was considered shameful but then he still did it for me and for you. He died a shameful death for every one of us and the only we often repay him is by offending him even more. Do you know what sin is, it’s more than just offending God; it’s telling God that the sacrifice of His Dearly beloved Son as it’s says in John3:16 was a waste, it’s telling Jesus to go back to Calvary and die again, and it’s nailing Him to the cross again and again and once more exposing Him to public shame. Sin is an act of disobedience by a creature who rejects, at least implicitly, the very One from whom he came and who sustains him in life.

I read something in the bible that struck a chord in me and it is the book of Proverbs 20 vs. 30 and it says: “Sometimes it takes a painful experience, to make us change our ways.” Do we wait until something painful happens before we turn back to our creator? Do we keep ignoring his warnings and rejecting Him at every twist and turn, only to turn back to HIM when the world has failed us.

I happen to be the worst sinner and I will be the first to condemn myself. It is always the things we count as inconsequential that are the things that really matter. Close your eyes for one short moment and picture yourself as God would see you now, then ask yourself this question: would God be pleased? When I was a child, my mother bought me this book titled “what would Jesus do?” it paints a picture where you are to judge every of your actions by what Jesus would do if He were in that particular situation.

I hope this article touches your life and makes you reconsider again. It is not easy to say no to sin, we are often swayed by temptations but then in the midst of our fall from grace, I hope we can find the throne of mercy and pick ourselves up and ask God for forgiveness. I also remember a prayer that goes like this: “ I love you Lord my God above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended thee, never permit me to separate myself from thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always and then do with me whatever Thou will.” I hope that most people learn that God gives us a chance to change our ways. No matter how many times you fall, He is willing to pick you up. He says in Ephesians 2 vs. 4: “But God’s mercy is so abundant and His love for us is so great.” He implores us to draw closer to him in prayer.

All I want you to do is a take a moment and reflect on your life. How many times do we forget to thank God for the many things He has done for us instead of complaining about the ones He has not done for us. The Igbo’s have a saying that is loosely translated as:”if someone praises a mighty one for the ones he has done, he will do more.” It is about learning to thank God for all the little things He has done for us, appreciating the fact that He made us to be alive today. It’s not enough having all the riches the world can hold, it’s about the people whose faces you have put a smile on. It is about those whose lives you touch with just a word or a little action of yours, it’s about that poor person who smiles whenever he sees you, it’s about the little things to you can do to make that corner of the world a better place for everyone to live in. Your life, my life is about making a difference, creating changes, being agents of goodness and spreading happiness wherever we go. That my friend is what living a truly happy and fulfilled life means!!!

I take the journey to knowing God more every day. It’s not easy but then I ask for His grace and I know He is able to do more than I can ever imagine.

IF ONLY

If only the words “I love you” each time they were sent;

Came from the sender’s heart;

If only they were truly meant;

If kisses and warm hugs were more readily given;

If we were more accepting, earth would be more like heaven;

If only we could love others as much as we love ourselves;

Fewer partners would be rejected and shoved back on the shelves;

Children would feel more secure; grow up confident and strong;

And find their place in the world, knowing where they belong;

Love is the sustainer of life, bringing well-being and health;

Wellspring of true happiness; a value greater than wealth;

I know that God truly loves me. He gives hugs all the time;

If only each person on earth knew the savior who is mine.

—-Faye Adams.

Love is one topic that cannot be exhausted. Love is the very reason of our existence and most times we say the words but do not mean them. LOVE drew the Son Of God from Heaven to die for sinful ones like you and I. Its time to extend that love to others no matter how unworthy they are of that love for Christ showed us love in that He died for us while we were still sinners.

Dare to Believe

From today i will be posting one or two quotes everyday that have helped me during trying periods. if you have any quotes, feel free to add any quotes that you know to the comment section.

Dare to believe:

That you are a wonderful, unique person;

That you are a once-in-all history event;

That it’s more than a right; it’s your duty to be who you are;

That life is not a problem to solve but a gift to cherish;

And you will be able to stay one up on what you used to get you down.

i do not know who wrote this quote but if you do know who, you can let me know. You are unique,never let anyone tell you different. God made you to be perfect. You were made to show forth God’s glory. When you wake up in the morning tell yourself this I am unique, one of a kind, God lives in me, His son died for me and His spirit dwells in me.

RIGHT TIME

How often do we repay God’s kindness with wickedness, His goodness with evil? How often do we hear God’s word and purposely pay deaf ear to it. How many a time has God warned us and we intentionally ignored His warnings and admonitions.

I cringe in shame when I think of all the times I have consciously sinned against God. I ask myself if God were man, He would sure have gotten tired of me. I wonder how God can seat on His throne and watch me commit horrendous evils and yet I say sorry and still He forgives.

I try to imagine what must be going through His mind. I think this is what He must be thinking: “I gave up my only son for your sake, He was bruised for your iniquities and yet you cannot turn away from your sins. I love you but in spite of my love, you keep sentencing my son to public shame. What have I done to deserve such treatment? How did I offend you? How did my blessings to you become a curse? Answer me my people. I called you yet you decide to close your ears, I am at the door of your heart, knocking and you refuse to open up to me. What more do you want from me.”

God is watching from a distance and waiting with arms opened wide ready to accept us. We are his people, the sheep of his flock, the people for whom His dearly beloved son in whom He is well pleased with shed his precious blood for. The bible clearly states it: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” and it continues as follows: ‘God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?’ Procrastination they say is the thief of time. Come back now while the ocean of mercy still flows and the fount of grace is still open.

The right time is NOW!!!

I Know My country

I come from a country that is blessed with everything. We are the giant of Africa; the heartbeat of the Savannah, the country flowing with milk and honey. Nigeria, the most populous black nation in the world. The land of diverse cultures, dialects, languages and peoples; a place of abundant mineral, natural and human resources is where I lay claim to. Nigeria a place where God’s work is better experienced than described.

I know my country!!! I love my country. I am proudly Nigerian. I know that things are not the way i would love them to be in my country but I would not exchange my origins for any other.

God bless Nigeria!!!

The Self Esteem Creed— part 3

Now to the concluding part of the creed.

I belong to myself; my thoughts are my very own. My feelings are my own. The things I feel are more a part of me than my right arm. To know the things I feel is to know me. I belong to other people too for when I share my thoughts with them and let them find my feelings, I have given them a part of me; I belong to them. Lord, help me to give little pieces of myself that I may belong to others but even more help me accept pieces of others that they may belong to me too for the world is too large for me to exist alone without the help of others.

My hope is built on nothing less than Christ. When God talks about a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; He definitely was referring to me. I am chosen, royal, holy and peculiar and am out to sing forth His praises. I don’t need anyone to tell me any different. I am walking in power, dominion and authority. All that God has blessed me with are enough for me to succeed with. I am made to be a problem solver. The joy of the Lord is my stronghold.

Life would not always give me what I am want, but am sure that God will give me all that I need and I will learn to work and excel with all that I have. I am beautiful both inside and outside. The perfect peace of God radiates through me. For me the word impossible is not a place to stop but a starting point to overcome. No matter what obstacles life places in my path, one way or another but surely with God on my side, I will surmount them all.

Every word that comes out from my mouth will be positive; I refuse to be put down by trials and tribulations. I am born to rule. I know that life is all about compromises but not my standards, values and beliefs. I believe that in giving people my very best, the very best comes back to me. James corbel says to become a champion, fight one round more and that hold true for every challenge I may face. I refuse to give up or give in. I am a shining light to my generation, an example to all.

I am part of history making. I am amazing because that is what God has made me to be. If it’s going to be, it’s up to me. I refuse to let anyone dictate the way I will live my life except it’s by the dictates of God’s word and above my life is a testimony to the fact that God lives in me.

Hope you enjoyed reading it. God has made you perfect, don’t settle for less. You were bought with the price of something expensive; the precious blood of the sinless lamb.
